God Hasn’t Forgotten About You

God Hasn’t Forgotten About You

From the moment my husband and I got married and had our first child we dreamed of buying a home. He was working a job that paid next to nothing and I stayed home because we couldn’t even afford childcare. So you can imagine that dream was a long shot. For years we would spend most of our Saturdays riding around looking in nice neighborhoods. We would even attend the open houses and act like we were potential buyers…

Mind you, we were B-R-O-K-E.

We would rehearse what we would tell the realtors when they asked what our occupations were and how much we made… I’m not even kidding.

My heart yearned for the moment when we would grow our family and welcome our new baby home – to our home, with a cute little nursery awaiting and all. When our second child arrived and we still weren’t any closer to buying, I wondered if I would at least get to hear the sound of their little feet running around on our hardwood floors that we had already picked out in our minds. By the time our kids got a little older they became hip to our Saturday outings. We would visit an open house and their eyes would light up as they ran to claim their rooms. We did it for motivation but I can’t lie, sometimes I would leave feeling a little sad.

I remembered receiving a prophetic word in 2010 that God was going to bless us with a new home in October (my husband and I were making plans the night before and out of faith mentioned that we wanted to buy a house by OCTOBER!!!). But He didn’t say October of what year. In 2015 I received another word that confirmed God’s promise to bless my family with a home. Then about a year or two later I received a third word (3 is the number of completion) that the realtor would be the one to reach out to us..

But because it wasn’t happening sooner, I began to think that God had forgotten about me.

But still, we kept believing and speaking that it would happen. I wasn’t even sure how because we still didn’t feel that we were in a position to buy. The thought of buying a home felt intimidating.

But how many of you know that a promise is a promise (can we have a little church up in here)?

So here is where the blessings began and the promise started to manifest.

2017 marked the seventh year since I had first received the prophetic word about the Lord blessing us with a house in October. In the Bible the seventh year is the Sabbatical year of rest…THE YEAR OF REST! Did ya’ll catch that? *Praise break. Well, OCTOBER 2017 a realtor reached out to me through social media. I have no idea how she found me. I was a little skeptical at first and then I remembered the word that I had received about her.

Yet, I told her that we were not ready to buy… Oh ye of little faith… She kept in touch and gently nudged us to try even though we thought we weren’t ready. So after a month or so we decided it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.

We had no money saved and our credit was poor.

We started working on our credit in February, put our builder deposit down in May, and closed on our new home in November! Not only were we able to get our home built, we were able to get the floor plan that we desired, the finishings that we wanted, and the biggest lot in the neighborhood.

To God be the glory, because this was not our own doing.

The best part about our testimony is that if God did it for us He will surely do it for you. I know that it may seem like He has forgotten about you, but His promise is a promise. Periodt.
